Fuck, I love The National. They were on CBC’s Q yesterday, with Jian Ghomeshi. Everything about this song and pretty much everything about The National is perfect. Matt Berninger is in great voice (and a jacket and tie) and the band sounds fantastic. If the rest of what they’re pulling together for their next album is this good, we have another Boxer-quality release on the way.

The guys also give a great interview. Smart, thoughtful, sincere. And they offer some nice insight into how they create and grow an album over a period of time. An MP3 of the entire show is here. Well worth listening to The National segment.

Sorry for the gushing … but these guys are great. I mean, what other band would bring a trombone player and a trumpet player to an early morning radio interview?
